Navman Driver Management
Managing driver
hours and activity is now a common requirement for today’s fleet managers.
Whether for government compliance reasons, or to gain a competitive edge, fleet
managers everywhere are looking for a reliable electronic solution for driver
management.
Navman provides the ideal driver management solution. With Navman
driver management, individual drivers can be identified with a unique sign-on
code number. This allows you to analyse driving activity, behaviour and trends.
Examples of the kind of information you can retrieve on drivers includes:
-
Driving hours.
Total driving hours. Driving hours by trip. How long a driver has been
traveling between stops. How long drivers are stopping for. This assists
greatly in managing the number of hours drivers are working each week or
month. Also helps manage driver fatigue and ensure that drivers are taking
sufficient breaks.
-
Idling time.
You can see which of your drivers are consistently idling their vehicles for
long periods and identify areas where you can save on fuel costs.
-
Working time.
See when drivers are starting work and when they finish. This can act as a
backup to payroll to confirm when drivers are clocking in and out.
-
Mileage.
You can see how many kilometers drivers are racking up, by day, week, and
month; even over the entire year. This also helps manage driver fatigue by
ensuring that drivers are taking sufficient breaks for the mileage they are
covering.
-
Speed.
You can use speed reporting to identify specific events where speeding has
occurred, or run a speed profile comparison to compare multiple drivers’
behaviour together. This allows you to maintain visibility into how your
vehicles are being used. It also provides you with a way to measure how your
best and worst drivers perform.
-
Billable time and
waiting time.
Driver activity reporting allows you to see each of your driver’s jobs as
trips and understand how long drivers are taking to get to jobs and then the
time they are spending on site. For the service sector, this time on site can
be billable time or for the transport sector, time on site may be interpreted
as waiting time.
Driver management with Navman provides a paper-less, electronic
means of
recording driver activity. Driver
management requires nothing more than a
Mobile Data Terminal to allow a driver to
input their Personal Identification Number (PIN). There are no other costs
involved and no additional equipment required.
Drivers simply “login” to the system with their PIN and all of
the driver’s hours and activity is then recorded against their name. This allows
you to monitor each individual driver’s activity or compare different driver’s
behaviour to benchmark your best (and worst) drivers.
